4. Alicia Ostriker's workshop for those in the NYC area:
I lead a monthly midrash writing workshop in spring and fall. It is in my apartment at 755 West End Ave.
(upper west side of Manhattan), from noon to 3 on Sundays.
What we do: We read a chapter or so of the Bible, kick it around in a very free-form way for an hour or an hour and a half, discovering all kinds of contrary possible meanings, thinking about how it connects with out own lives. Then I give everyone a writing assignment that arises from our conversation, and seven minutes to do it. Participants write amazing things, and we share, and laugh, and sometimes cry. No previous experience with the Bible is
necessary.
For more information call me at 609-658-5259, or email me at ostriker@rutgers.edu.
