Wompo Publishers Newspaper
News this week from Lavender Review, "door poems", Poets Theatre (back issues of the newspaper are archived at the Wompo festival of women's poetry here: wompherence.proboards.com ).
1. Lavender Review is a new biannual e-zine dedicated to poetry and art by, about, and for lesbians, including whatever might appeal to a lesbian readership. The theme of Issue 2 is Epithalamion; the deadline for submissions is December 1, 2010; and the issue will be published in January, 2011. Mary Meriam, Editor. See Issue 1 - Sapphic here: lavrev.net/
2. In celebration of Jack Wiler’s poem “Divina Is Divina,” I’m creating a hand-bound poetry zine of "door poems". I would love for you all to submit an image of a door turned into poetry.
Those who submit work will receive two copies of the book and a letter of great thanks. Additional books will be made and left on the door-steps of unexpected poetry readers.
I would love to have the collection ready for AWP! I think it would be a blast to hand out “door poems” at the door of the writing conference. I will need your images by January 1st.
Please email your photos of your “door poems” as jpegs to NicelleCDavis@gmail.com
Images will also be posted on the Bees’ Knees for poetry lovers to enjoy!

3. Mina Loy's "The Pamperers" * Poets Theatre at MSA * Directed by Siobhan Scarry
------------
Hello Wompos,
I've been meaning to introduce myself to the list, so this post will serve as both an introduction and an invitation. I'm a US poet, currently living in Victoria, BC where I teach Modernism at the University of Victoria. I'm also completing my PhD with SUNY Buffalo; my dissertation, currently underway, focuses on experimental poetry and community. Work from the project -- on Robert Duncan -- is soon to appear with Jacket2 and through the University of Iowa Press. I am also a poet, and my work can be found in jubilat, Mid-American Review, Sentence, and other journals. I have two poems coming out in the next issue of New Letters. I look forward to being more active on the list and getting to know some fellow wompos!
For those of you coming to MSA, please join us on Friday night for a revival -- and quite possibly, a first-ever performance -- of a little-known Mina Loy play, "The Pamperers." Details follow.
best,
Siobhan Scarry
----------------------
When: Friday, Nov 12, 8:30-10pm
Where: Open Space Gallery (510 Fort Street, Victoria, BC)
Free and open to the public
Come join us for a resuscitation of Mina Loy's dramatic critique of the Futurist movement! Written between 1915 and 1917, and first published in a 1920 issue of "The Dial," Loy's play offers a satire of the movement's tendency toward becoming the very culture it critiques, as well as dramatizes the hypocrisy of the movement's relationship to women. Confined to the pages of "The Dial" until it was reprinted in a 1996 issue of "Performing Arts Journal," "The Pamperers" was never performed during Loy's
lifetime. This staged reading may mark its first performance.
This will be produced as a staged reading with poet-readers Tim Lilburn, Maleea Acker, Michael Nardone, Garth Martens, and other local poets.
*Note: The performance is being staged courtesy of Roger L. Conover, Mina Loy’s editor, on behalf of the Estate of Mina Loy.
The evening will also include a production of "HD: A Life," written and performed by Sasha Colby.
