Mule on a Ferris Wheel is publishing two chapbooks annually. Our first chapbook will be out this fall, and is in publication process at the moment. It is a book of graduate student poem selections entitled That Desk Is Not My Mother: Poems of Perspective, Extravagance, and Paradox.
I, Bonnie Roberts, am the publisher, and my assistant editor is Ms. Kelley Hamilton.
Our address is 1307 Wells Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35801.
At the moment, we do not have a site for the press only, but it is listed as a part of the web site at bonnierobertspoetry.com. Go to "Mule on a Ferris Wheel."
We publish from 40-54 pages of poetry from either an individual graduate student, currently enrolled in graduate school (does not have to be Creative Writing), or from an entire graduate class of writing students from colleges and universities around the country. The State of Alabama is excluded to avoid conflicts of interest.
With each manuscript, we ask for a $20. reading fee, paid by check or money order to Mule on a Ferris Wheel Press.
We will not begin accepting manuscripts for spring of 2011 until November 15, 2010. We accept paper entries only, no email. Manuscripts are not returned. Enclose an SASE.
For individual graduate students, please include a cover sheet, including the following information: name, address, phone number, email address, school you are attending, professor's name, and title of the class you are taking or your course of study at the moment. If an entire class is submitting a manuscript, please include the following: name of school, department and professor, school address, phone number and email, main course of study or any particular theme followed in putting the manuscript together.
We do not accept post office boxes as addresses.
The winning student or class will receive 150 copies of the chapbook, which will be listed in Bowker Books. Only colleges and universities outside the State of Alabama will be considered.
Sincerely, Bonnie Roberts
