2. Jeanne Marie Beaumont and Baron Wormser, co-instructors: "Edna St. Vincent Millay Discussion Weekend (Being with Poets Series)"
September 19-20, 2015, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Fee: $325, includes breakfast and lunch. Location: 13 Loomis Street, Montpelier, VT 05602
Description: These two days will be devoted to considering the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, once a very popular poet who fell somewhat out of favor in the post-WWII, academic, modernist milieu. This will be a chance to look closely at her considerable art and discuss what she achieved and how she wrote. An accomplished formalist and poet of great feeling, who evinced a wider range of concerns than she is usually given credit for, Millay represents something perennial about poetry that is well worth attending to.
Limited to six participants. There are currently two spots left. Contact jeannembeaumont@nyc.rr.com or baronwormser@gmail.com if you are interested.
3. The fall term of Frances Donovan's poetry workshop in Boston starts in September. New and experienced poets welcome. The workshop includes generative exercises, discussions of craft, and tips on how to get published. We meet every other Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm, Eastern Time. There is a Skype spot available for a remote participant. $20 suggested donation per session.
About me: Frances Donovan's work has appeared or is upcoming in 823 on High, Snapdragon: a Journal of Art and Healing, Marathon Literary Review, Ishka Bibble, Oddball Magazine, Incessant Pipe, Lyrical Somerville, PIF Magazine, The Writer, Chronogram, and Gender Focus. She curated the Poetry@Prose reading series in Arlington, MA and is a member of PoemWorks: the Workshop for Publishing Poets. She has also participated in and led sessions at Toni Amato's Write Here Write Now workshop in Somerville, MA. Frances aims to create a comfortable, intimate environment where writers of all kinds can become open to new possibilities and new ways of looking at their own work.
