4. The Mom Egg, an annual literary collection of sharp, articulate, irreverent, and inventive poetry, prose, fiction and art by mothers about everything and by everyone about mothers and motherhood, announces publication of The Mom Egg 2011, Vol. 9.
In this year's collection, Margo Berdeshevsky’s photo essay excerpt “In the Shadows of Motherhood” frames poems and stories in varying light, bright to dark. The wonderful work of many WOMPO’s is represented! The issue is available at online booksellers and selected bookstores, or can be purchased at a special discounted rate on The Mom Egg website.
Started in 2002 as the literary organ for the Mamapalooza festival, The Mom Egg is now independently published by Half-Shell Press. In addition to the annual print edition, The Mom Egg website features alternative content. New on the website-- a four-part video Conversation with poet and memoirist Hettie Jones, collaborative works of art and literature, features and book reviews. Submissions for the next issue will open this summer.
